Hankey Group Employees Raise $4,513 for 2017 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

(March 28, 2017) Los Angeles, CA – Over 35 Hankey Group employees recently walked in The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 2017 event on March 11, 2017 at Dodger Stadium. The team consisted of employees from multiple Hankey Group subsidiary companies, and raised over $4,500 in donations to the cause.
“We launched the HG Health and Wellness Program in late 2013 to encourage physical fitness and employee participation in company-sponsored events, such as free healthy cooking classes and physical fit challenges throughout the year,” explained Tonia Douglas, Director of Human Resources – Hankey Group. “In 2016, we built HGym, a private state-of-the-art gym in our office building, where we host free yoga and meditation classes for employees.” Westlake Financial Services, a subsidiary of The Hankey Group, also coordinated a fun-filled photo booth event at the company’s Los Angeles Headquarters in February, raising a significant portion of the 2017 donation amount.
“We are particularly proud when employees participate in causes that touch a special place in our own hearts, such as The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. The Hankey Group has employees that are either cancer survivors or have family members and friends that have battled breast cancer. It means a lot when the company comes together to support the search for a cure,” concluded Douglas.
The Hankey Group first participated in the event in 2014 and, through employee efforts, raised $1,400 in donations. This year, the Hankey Group Wellness Fund covered registration costs for all 35 company participants and matched employee contributions with a donation of over $1,800.
